The Robert Elms Show - Live!

For more than 30 years, Robert Elms has spoken to Londoners nearly every day, on BBC Radio London – with a show that celebrates the London lives and cultures of his listenership, along with regular deep dives into London’s incredible Music, Fashion and Sporting scenes – The Arches London Bridge is delighted to welcoming Robert and his live show to the venue for a very special night on Sunday

15th February.

The Robert Elms show live at Arches London Bridge, is a fun, informal, intimate evening with Robert that features many elements of his much-loved radio programme.

Come and enjoy Robert presenting ‘live’ versions of Notes and Queries; there will be a Listed Londoner; a London Historian, in addition to tales from the studio and anecdotes from 30 years of live broadcasting. Music fans will enjoy a live celebration of Neckerchief Rock with live music from the brilliant Danny ‘The Champ’ Wilson.

The evening will last for approximately three hours, with the venue set up with tables and chairs and bar open throughout the performance until closing time, so grab a ticket and come and enjoy a night with BBC London’s Robert Elms at the brilliant new venue that is just by London Bridge station.

SEED TALKS: Gothic Fiction & The Female Writer: From Jane Eyre to The Haunting of Hill House

This talk looks at how women writers used horror and the supernatural to push back against the expectations of their time. By turning everyday anxieties into eerie, unsettling fiction, they revealed the darker sides of patriarchy and colonialism. From Ann Radcliffe’s The Mysteries of Udolpho to Charlotte Brontë’s Jane Eyre, and the ghost stories of Elizabeth Gaskell, Charlotte Perkins Gilman and E. Nesbit, women have long used Gothic fiction to explore what it really costs to be independent. And as the popularity of horror films and series like The Haunting of Hill House show, the ghosts of lost female histories don’t stay buried for long.

ELVIS SHMELVIS

Elvis Shmelvis is one of the best known Elvis tribute artists in the UK. he has performed all over the world to crowds of up to 100,000, and has been the only 'Elvis' to have performed in Trafalgar Square to 30,000 crowd. He was chosen by the BBC to play the part of Elvis in Holby City and went on to be featured on Sunday Night at the Palladium.
